Senior Scientist / Engineer
GeoSystems Analysis, Inc., (GSA) a Trinity Consultants team, is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist / Engineer to provide technical leadership in mine closure planning, waste management, cover system design and ecosystem restoration for mining clients in Perú and across Latin America. This full-time position is ideal for a seasoned professional passionate about sustainability and innovation in natural resource management.
What will I be doing?
- • Mine closure planning
- • Conduct waste rock and tailings characterization studies
- • Design mine waste cover systems and reclamation plans
- • Develop revegetation and ecosystem restoration strategies
- • Perform water balance and mine waste draindown studies
- • Manage surface water and seepage control studies
- • Oversee post-closure monitoring programs
- • Engage with clients, permitting authorities, and community stakeholders
- • Support business development through proposal writing and project acquisition
- • Mentor and lead technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions
What qualifications are required for this role?
- • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in a Geoscience, or Mining, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- • Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer registration preferred
- • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in mine closure consulting or related fields
- • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary projects
- • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational skills
- • Professional-level Spanish and English proficiency; native Spanish preferred
- • Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work in remote environments

Científico/a o Ingeniero/a Senior

Este posición de tiempo completo es ideal para un/a profesional con una sólida trayectoria, que tenga interés en aportar desde la sostenibilidad, la innovación técnica y la gestión responsable de los recursos naturales.
¿Qué estarás haciendo?
- • Liderar y participar en la planificación de cierre de minas en distintas etapas del ciclo de vida del proyecto.
- • Ejecutar estudios de caracterización de roca de desmonte y relaves.
- • Diseñar sistemas de cobertura para residuos mineros y planes de reclamación
- • Desarrollar estrategias de revegetación y restauración de ecosistemas, adaptadas a condiciones locales.
- • Realizar estudios de balance hídrico, infiltración y drenaje en instalaciones de residuos mineros.
- • Gestionar estudios de control de aguas superficiales, filtraciones y drenaje ácido.
- • Supervisar programas de monitoreo post-cierre y evaluar su desempeño a largo plazo.
- • Interactuar con clientes, autoridades competentes y comunidades, en el marco de procesos de permisos y cumplimiento regulatorio.
- • Apoyar el desarrollo de negocios, mediante la elaboración de propuestas técnicas y la adjudicación de nuevos proyectos.
- • Brindar mentoría y liderazgo técnico a equipos multidisciplinarios , asegurando la entrega de soluciones de alta calidad.
¿Qué calificaciones se requieren para este puesto?
- • Título de posgrado (maestría o doctorado preferidos) en Geociencias, Ingeniería de Minas, Civil o Ambiental, o disciplinas afínes.
- • Colegiatura o registro profesional como Geocientífico/a o Ingeniero/a (deseable).
- • Mínimo de 15 años de experiencia progresiva en consultoría de cierre de minas o áreas relacionadas.
- • Experiencia comprobada en la gestión de proyectos multidisciplinarios.
- • Sólidas habilidades de liderazgo, pensamiento estratégico y organización.
- • Dominio profesional del español y del inglés; se prefiere español nativo.
- • Disponibilidad para viajar a nivel nacional e internacional y para trabajar en entornos remotos.

Environmental Geologist
Location: Tucson, AZ 85716
Job Duties:
- • Hydraulic property testing of rock samples from lithium brine deposits; laboratory data processing and analysis; technical report writing (NI 43-101).
- • Development of conceptual and numerical models to predict tailings storage facilities seepage rates during post-closure draindown.
- • Development and calibration of numerical models to predict long-term evapotranspiration and net percolation of mine waste cover systems.
- • Water content and matric potential sensor field installation, data processing, analysis and QC.
- • Material characterization and field sampling.
- • Monitoring streamflow measurements with Sontek FlowTracker 2.
- • Assist in managed aquifer recharge projects with field reconnaissance, soil characterization and sampling, and assessing soil properties and aquifer recharge suitability.
Requirements:
- • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or foreign equivalent, or closely related field
- • Six (6) months of experiences in hydraulic property testing, lab data processing, analysis, and technical report writing
- • Knowledge of Andean geology with experience in the Salar systems in the Lithium Triangle
- • Knowledge of geographic information systems (ESRI) and numerical modeling software

Hydrologist/Water Resources Scientist or Engineer
We are now seeking applicants to join our team as a hydrologist/water resources scientist or engineer. This permanent position is well suited for an individual strong in surface and near-surface water hydrology and hydraulics and that thrives operating at the interface of science and engineering. The position involves working closely with small teams to design and implement pilot and full-scale solutions within the fields of surface and groundwater resources, habitat restoration, and mine reclamation. The intent is that this position be based in Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona; however, we will consider other locations for the ideal candidate.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- • Apply knowledge of hydrologic processes and use data sets to describe surface water and/or unsaturated flow.
- • Numerical modeling of surface water hydrology, open channel hydraulics, and/or vadose zone flow processes.
- • Perform calculations to design reclamation soil covers, riverbank protection, and/or channel geometric design.
- • Develop engineering design drawings and specifications.
- • Undertake field work for investigative and monitoring purposes. Field work may include soil and sampling and logging; surface and groundwater sampling; and the installation and monitoring of surface water and vadose zone instruments.
- • Communicate with geochemists, hydrogeologists, hydrologists, ecologists, engineers and other professionals in related fields.
- • Create reports for clients which can be understood by people who don’t necessarily have a technical background.
- • Work within established health and safety guidelines.
Position Requirements
- • MS in civil engineering or a natural sciences field related to water resources.
- • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of standard computer software (i.e. MS Office).
- • Travel to project sites both within the United States and South America.
- • Independent thinking and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Positive factors that will be considered for this position include:
- • Numerical modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, GoldSim, Hydrus)
- • GIS analysis;
- • Computer programming (e.g., Python)
- • EIT or PE in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- • Written and spoken fluency in Spanish and English
