Project Description
GSA designed and implemented a rigorous laboratory testing program to analyze solution and air-flow characteristics in copper leach ore under variable raffinate irrigation and heap height conditions. Columns were instrumented with water content, temperature, tension, and oxygen concentration sensors. Variable irrigation and air injection rates were implemented to determine their effects on leach ore environmental conditions. Air permeability and oxygen consumption were also determined during irrigation and rest cycles.
